The ultimate ice test (20)
The last high tides accelarate the break up . Large blocks are now floating and the boat is left sometimes in difficult position when the tide leave. The hull is so strong that there is no deformation, what ever the position is. Doors and openning are closing properly. No sign of any stress. The rudder goes freely 360 degrees and have not been afected by the floes. -
one of the last trip on seaice (12)
May 18th It 's melting very fast now on the top of the sea ice. There is still 1,5m of ice under the surface but cracks begin to enlarge and the surface is melting. No so much sun as well as evaporation is important. -
Time of the dirty (24)
May 15th. It's melting since 2 weeks now and all the dirt is surfacing. This is not the most pleasant time of the year close of the community. The ice surface is tinted by the ground which have stick to its bottom before it's flip over in December. -
Beginning to melt... (20)
the first week of May have seen a dramatic change: the dominant wind is from the south and the temps increased enough to beginning a large scale melting. -
Last good snow (12)
End of April. A plane in the fog and some kite surfing are some of the last fun and pleasure before it begin to melt. -

2008 April 21 This charming house is by the Apex beach, facing south. A perfect place to live... -
Windy toonik (15)
2008 April 22 Well, there was some wind these days. A fun time to be outside. Unfortunately for them, the dogs were not the main attraction: snowmobile races are much more attractive. -
ToonikTime openning (15)
Matching with Tooniktime, that was the "end of the year party" for the Hairdressing section at the Nunavut Arctic College. As a friend and photographer, I had the chance to be invited at the prestigious Discovery Hotel. -
A cabin by the beach (12)
It's an old Arctic tradition to have a cabin by the sea. Often made from recuperation materials, the comfort is minimal but the goal is to be in-situ to go hunting or fishing as soon as the season permit. -
The Kimmirut-Iqaluit track -part2- (15)
Hunting the caribou is a game of patience. We crossed the Frobisher Bay, climbed the Meta Inconita north side to reach the beautiful Soper valley. -
The Kimmirut-Iqaluit track -part1- (15)
Between Iqaluit and Kimmirut, there is a long track which cross the large Meta Inconita Peninsula and link the Hudson Strait with the Frobisher Bay.
